QUESTIONS & ANSWERS for party goers:
Q1. Are you posting out tickets? Where are the tickets?
A. We don’t post them out. You simply need to bring your printed e-tickets (emailed to you when you bought them) for our stewards to check against the confirmed bookings. Look at your receipt email when you purchased tickets which contain individual links to each ticket:
When you click the “View Ticket” links in your email, you’ll see your separate e-tickets. You can print them out or take a picture with your phone to bring along. They look something like this:
People who booked block tickets, i.e more than 1, will need to bring along everybody in their party when they enter.
Q2. What time does it start?
A. It starts exactly at 6pm. Come along then, don’t be late! The party night is on until 11.30pm and you want to make the most of those hours of entertainment!
Q3. Can we bring carry outs?
A. Sorry. You cannot bring in your own alcohol into the venue. Stewards will be monitoring this. There is a beer tent which sells spirits, beers and wines at the party night. Strictly no glass bottles at the party.
Q4. Can we dress up in fancy dress?
A. Absolutely! Almost everybody we’ve spoken to, plans on getting dressed up, even if its only 80s make up and hair!
Q5. Has the site got disabled access?
A. Absolutely. It was chosen specifically to be level with good access.
Q6. Are there toilets on site?
A. Yes. Male and female separate toilets are on site including separate disabled toilets.
Q8. What about Parking?
A. Yes. Good free parking is available on the red ash park, the surrounding streets and of course up at Asda nearby. Vehicles will strictly NOT be permitted on the grass parks and will be held responsible for any damage to the grass.
Q9. Is there food available?
A. Yes! We’ll have a burger van selling chips, burgers and hot dogs at the venue on site. We hope also to have ‘nibbles’ on the tables.
Q10. Is there seating and tables?
A. Absolutely! Every guest has a seat. You can sit anywhere at tables surrounding the dance floor.
Q11. Is it a band or DJ?
A. A DJ will be playing your amazing 80s tunes from 6pm onwards.
Q12. Is there Adult Facepainting?
A. Yes, Facepainting will be available to adults for small additional cost.
Q13. Is it indoors or outdoors? What about rain?
A. We have huge massive marquees. There’s plenty of room in the main party marquee plus the beer tent and a spare massive rain shelter. It won’t matter though as the weather forecast is for fantastic, dry, sunny and warm weather!
Q14. Can we dance outdoors?
A. Yes of course, although the dance floor is a hard floor inside the marquee. If warm, we may leave off one of the sides of the marquees.
Q15. Will there be decorations?
A. Yes! The marquees will be decorated in the most special 80’s finery! Backdrops, neon lighting and coloured flags and bunting all over the site.
Q16. Can we leave the site and come back later?
A. Yes! Every guest who has a ticket booked will receive a printed wristband upon entry which is valid for the whole night. SO, if you want to nip out to the adjacent fairground, or back to the car, it’ll be easy to get back into the site.
Q17. Are there stewards and security?
A. Yes. The entrance and perimeter is monitored. Low key Community Police will attend. It will be most safe.
Q18. What time does it finish?
A. It finishes at 11.30pm. We strictly cannot sell alcohol after that time, so last orders will be 20 minutes before.
Q19. Are taxis available?
A. Yes! Our preferred taxi company and sponsor Hastie Cars will have a small rank set up at David Dale House (the council offices on John Street) at 11pm for you all to get safely home.
Q20. Can we party after 11.30pm?
A. Not at the park but of course some Blantyre pubs will be open late for your evening to continue. The park will be fully cleared by 11.30pm
Q21. If we cant make it, are tickets refundable?
A. Sorry, they’re not. That was made clear on booking and funds have already been used to organise the event. You can of course sell yours to others privately.
Q22. What about jackets and valuables?
A. Guests are entirely responsible for their own possessions. There is no cloakroom. Blantyre Community Committee cannot be held responsible for any lost, missing or stolen belongings.
Q23. Can we buy further tickets at the entrance?
A. Sorry, no. Important. Only those people who have booked tickets in advance online will be permitted into the festival site. Tickets cannot be bought at the entrance.
