Saturday 9th June 2018 was the 2nd day of the Gala. Live ‘Near Livvies’, Blantyre’s annual Music Festival.
Again held in Stonefield Public Park this year, thousands of people descended upon the park and it was a fabulously warm day, with just one sharp, brief shower (which included lightning!)
We’d like to say thank you to all our amazing Market Vendors for making the day such a success and again to Crown Marquee, Bespoke Event Services and Kyle’s Fairground.
The tombola was generously stocked with prizes from Family Shopper Blantyre . Thank you also to Derek Thomas and Margaret Miller our food vendors. A special thanks to our fantastic Facepainters and of course not forgetting South Lanarkshire Council for providing so many bins and cutting the grass to perfection beforehand. It looked immaculate!
Thanks also to the family and friends of our volunteers who stayed behind to assist and clean up the park. We can’t forget our dedicated cleaning services who were just fantastic and to William Carmichael and his colleagues for providing first class steward and security services.
Crowds of people were treated to a wonderful day of live music on stage and in the acoustic tent. The day could not have been possible without the excellent music from all the talented artists, bands and individuals who played. Thank you to The Naked Feedback for headlining the festival!
Children enjoyed free arts and crafts and teenagers were treated to a mini dance in the dance tent, with Barry Watt, our resident DJ from Bespoke Event Services on the decks.
The Hoolet’s again provided an excellent bar services, building their own impressive bar, which provided popular and busy.
We’d also finally like to say thank you to sponsors BIG Lottery, Hastie Cars, Darcey Quigley & Co and Gavin Watson Printers for their generous financial assistance, which really made the whole event possible.
Finally, a thanks to YOU! The people who attended. Feedback has been brilliant. Live Near Livvies will return again next year.
