Our fantastic Programme of Events has arrived. These were printed kindly courtesy of Gavin Watson Printers and will be given out for FREE to everybody attending on Sunday.
A first for us, somewhat more organised this year! A full colour 4 page glossy programme featuring adverts for all our amazing sponsors and combining the service hymn sheet and full programme with times for each act on stage. On the back some thank yous, information about the lights switch on, where to find Santa and Christmas messages to the community.
Stall Bookings for the Christmas Market at the Festive Event …..are now closed. We have a final number of 42 amazing stalls and tables and stalls have now been ordered. Thank you to all our vendors. The Christmas market is going to be great this year with good variety!
Some stalls are outside (forecast is dry, sunny and light winds). Most stalls are inside in the Sports Centre Hall or under a covered, heated marquee. A layout plan is being prepared and will be available when vendors arrive on Sunday morning. Vendors are not permitted to be on site before 10am, as stalls wont be built until then. Your goods are entirely your own risk. Offload area is the red ash park and carpark at the back of the Sports Centre.
A Blantyre family are celebrating this week after two children in their family won a competition and were chosen for the honour of switching on Blantyre’s Festive Lights!
Kenzie Mcmurray (6) on left and Kyle Robert Mcmurray (2) cannot wait to jointly press the big button and turn on the tree and street lights on Glasgow Road. The boys were nominated by proud sister, Jade after being randomly chosen by Bonnie Blantyre, who kindly hosted the competition. Mum Lisa told us, “The boys are really excited!”
A spokesperson for Blantyre Community Committee added, “The boys will join Santa, their family and ourselves, the festive event hosts up on stage on Sunday 25th November at the public park. After being presented with some goodies, the lucky lads will get to switch on the Christmas lights at 4.15pm. The boys will switch on the town’s main set of lights and tree lights on Glasgow Road, although High Blantyre’s are different and scheduled to automatically come on a few days earlier. We look forward to meeting the boys on the big day.”
With some new sparkly LED lights already in place near the Stonefield Park venue, the privilege of “switching on the lights” is something only a handful of people have ever had the opportunity to do.
Blantyre’s Christmas celebrations cannot start until Kenzie and Kyle switch it all on! We hope it creates some long lasting nice memories for the boys and everybody coming along to enjoy the FREE, family fun day.
